Summer Intern Gains Valuable Experience at Peninsula Engineering

|

This summer, Peninsula Engineering (PE) had the pleasure of welcoming Gabriel Cerminara, a promising civil engineering student from Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU), pursuing a degree in civil engineering. where he has demonstrated both passion and commitment to mastering the fundamentals of the discipline. His time at Peninsula allowed him to step beyond textbooks and lectures, diving into the hands-on aspects of civil engineering that bring projects to life.

Under the mentorship of PE engineers Brett Rosenblum, David Hurst and Jason Lightell, Gabriel engaged in meaningful collaboration on several development projects. This exposure gave him insight into the multifaceted nature of civil engineering from initial site planning and design to the complex regulatory and environmental considerations involved in project execution. The mentorship he received was invaluable, allowing him to ask questions, tackle challenges and understand the nuances of the profession outside the lecture setting.

In addition to project work, Gabriel gained proficiency in essential industry software applications, including platting programs that are vital for creating accurate site plans and ensuring compliance with local regulations. Beyond skill development, Gabriel’s internship also helped him clarify his career goals. Looking ahead, he aims to take the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam; the crucial first step toward becoming a licensed Professional Engineer (PE). This professional goal will not only affirm his technical competence but also open doors to greater responsibilities and leadership roles within the engineering community.

As Gabriel continues his studies and advances toward licensure, Peninsula Engineering wishes him great success as he enters his final year of undergrad this fall.
